PoC-ID project is developing a user-friendly device for the rapid detection of RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) infections, which are one of the leading causes of childhood infections and deaths.
This PoC (point of care) device will be built on a novel and adaptable platform technology based on innovative microelectronics-based biosensors and packaging concepts including microfluidics, and a novel functionalisation nanointerposer that is labelled with RNA oligonucleotide-based capture molecules (aptamers) for the detection of pathogen and host response biomarkers.
The innovative platform technologies developed in this project will provide solutions for the key challenges of fast and reliable diagnostics and thereby the project will help Europe to strengthen competitiveness in the diagnostics sector.
The consortium comprises 13 SMEs, institutes, universities and clinical end-users from 7 countries covering the whole biosensor technology value chain. PoC-ID is a Research and Innovation Project funded by the European Union within the Horizon 2020 programme. Grant Agreement: 634415.
